SCHÖPP-Multicourt - the multifunctional sport grass for:

As the name already indicates, on a multicourt several sports are possible. Usually, these are tennis and soccer, but also basketball and volleyball may be offered on this grass, indoor as well as outdoor. Target groups are all tennis sites – clubs as well as commercial centers – who wish to add other sports to their activities in order to be more attractive for their customers. The grass is constructed in a way to satisfy primarily the tennis players, but other sports are also possible!

We have optimized the movement comfort, the ball bounce, sliding properties of the material for playing tennis and at the same time finding a way to satisfy the footballers’ demands for greater elasticity. This being aware of the fact that there are opposed requirements in tennis and football regarding the elasticity surface. It goes without saying that the football players will have to accept certain compromises, in order not to “kill” the ball bounce for tennis and basketball.

The Multicourt Lines

There are the tennis court lines and for soccer an outer line going all around the field, plus a middle line and two goal spaces. The additional lines are placed in a way that they do not disturb the tennis players. Basketball and volleyball are played within the tennis- and football lines respectively.

The Multicourt is of interest for:

1. Tennis clubs
Due to the recurrent member numbers, most clubs have an oversupply of outdoor courts. By changing one clay court into a Multicourt, which should preferably be situated at the periphery of the club area because of the larger noise, you will make your club’s range of activities more attractive. You can offer further sports like football, basketball and volleyball, which is particularly interesting for the younger generation.
After all, among the clubs the best will survive. A Multicourt can be used all year, which means that tennis can be played the whole year as long as the weather is fine. That way, especially your team players have better possibilities to prepare for the summer season.

2. Commercial Centers
With a Multicourt you are able to offer additional sports without generally diminishing your tennis capacity. This can be important especially for small centers with 1-3 courts only. You may offer different sports, day wise on one court – when making such considerations, each center should be analysed individually.

The Construction of a Multicourt

The underground
A Multicourt can be installed on any stable and flat underground, meaning that indoor carpets must not be removed. For an outdoor court, good water drainage and a lateral slope is desirable.

The Covering
The Multicourt consists of a dense, high-quality artificial grass. The used yarn is especially slide friendly, considerably diminishing the danger of burns when falling.

1.500 g/sq. m. pile weight
2.500 g/sq. m. total weight
15 mm pile height
11 mm quartz sand filling
4 mm Perfect Glide micro granulate filling

The Filling
Quartz sand is only used to stabilize the grass construction and make it lay. As a superficial sliding medium, quartz sand is not suitable, since it destroys the grass fibres and densifies the construction unnecessarily. We therefore fill 4 mm of Perfect-Glide Granulate instead onto the surface for a better appearance and a greater moving comfort. Given the fact that our Perfect-Glide is permanently dust free and odourless, quartz sand dust and the smell of rubber is no longer a problem. On outdoor courts, we use a heavy, UV-stabilized type of granulate.
