The
Soccer Concept
Suggestions for the marketing of Soccer
Soccer stands for fun, communication, action, parties, life style and music. As long as the adjoining sport activities are not being disturbed, soccer should be presented that way. These considerations should be taken into account when positioning the courts. They should also be close to the Restaurants.
If you wish to market soccer successfully, a contact person is normally indispensable. This soccer manager should preferably come from the football sector and should coordinate all marketing activities.
Visit
existing soccer centres and inform yourself concerning their activities, turn
over, costs, prices and also about the installed court equipment. Most managers
will gladly give you the desired information, since the soccer trend profits
from the number of activities. In a town like Cologne, for example, you may
collect numerous tips of information in one single day (we would gladly name
some references, also from competing providers).
The marketing possibilities are manifold, but in the end you must set up your own concept:
- The “normal” club renting, company sport teams or other self-organized groups is hour wise. Hourly prices are always per court and not per person – before 17h00 may be € 20-25, after 17h00 € 35-50 and on weekends perhaps € 30-35. You will have to find the correct price level for your region.
- As a rule, the afternoon should be reserved for children. It may be reasonable to offer a children’s club with a fixed monthly fee of € 25-25, instead of individual bookings. The football school may be able to offer a care-service, e.g. taxi service, home-work supervision etc.
- Soccer meetings should be organized regularly. Here, groups will find themselves integrated spontaneously and other people without a team can also be integrated. With vouchers, single players may be pleased to give it a try and especially at the beginning. Vouchers may help to rouse interest, so that enough people come to the first soccer meetings. Otherwise you may charge € 5/participant.
- There is certainly a great potential in the marketing of events, which help to make your center known and to acquire new groups. Examples: Soccer parties, company parties, promotion events etc.
- League systems consisting of teams with funny names play an important role in the life of a soccer center. It is the soccer manager who has to take care of the coordination. Each team plays against each other team, paying a lump sum. Create a demand and use your phantasy: children’s league, ladies league, mixed league, company league, pub league or why not a league of teams from different soccer centers. For the formation of teams, an Internet contact platform may be useful.
There are many more potentials:
- Children’s birthdays
- Fathers’ day happening
- After work soccer
- Tournaments for company leagues, children, ladies etc.
- Local professional group tournaments (butchers, bakers, fire-brigade etc.)
- Football clubs
- Schools for the mornings
- Etc, etc.
Important: Even if some of these ideas may run by self initiative, most activities have to be pushed and realized by the soccer manager!
